Describe one specific example of your leadership. (The writer of your letter of recommendation re: Leadership  Abilities and Potential must confirm this experience).

A specific example of Leadership that I have exemplified has been my attribution to the Whiting High School Booster Club. I have been a participant in this club since my Freshman year. In my Sophomore year, I took on the role of Vice-President where I assisted and learned how to best provide for the club. In my Junior and Senior years, I was President with the help of my peers. Booster Club to me is all about getting students involved with the school. I find it essential for a student to feel comfortable and wanted in a place where they spend most of their day. Providing a sense of community for the students and school spirit is what I strive to achieve as a leader in Booster Club. I have helped create fun experiences for the students such as pep rallies, game themes, spirit weeks, and student-involved activities to make High School an enjoyable place for its students. I hope as I graduate, my attributes and efforts toward providing a lively and comfortable environment for the students will continue to be exemplified at Whiting High School.

Describe a recent particularly satisfying public service activity. (The writer of your letter of recommendation re: Public Service must confirm this).

A particularly satisfying public service activity which I participate in is volunteering at our local City of Whiting Public Library. Monthly, I will sign up to help our local library with anything they need especially with their lower staff numbers. Previously I have helped organize books to be recycled or helped with their Lego Club provided for the children of Whiting. I enjoy this service act and find it satisfying as I can tell my help improves other people's day. This brings me immense joy because I am able to alleviate some responsibility of an employee who was possibly working all day and just needed a simple break. It also puts a smile on my face seeing the children in Lego Club having fun and playing, while some are unable to have these opportunities at home.

Describe the education program you intend to pursue if you receive the scholarship.

In my undergraduate career, I plan to study Brain and Behavioral Sciences. This specific major will help fulfill my desire to become a Pediatric Psychiatrist. At a young age I have always been interested in helping people especially in an emotionally or mentally supportive way. Pursuing a Brain and Behavioral Sciences major would allow me to have the background of how the development of a human brain can lead to certain disorders or behavioral issues. After completing my undergraduate, I would apply to medical school so I can educate myself further and succeed in the career path of being a Pediatric Psychiatrist.
